Authentic Response validates each survey taker against its database of respondents in good standing and puts each of them through an 8-point security check to ensure data integrity.
Some of the highlights of this data check include:
- Scrubbing email addresses: Authentic Response scrubs respondent email addresses against Authentic Response's list of known professional survey takers and their IP addresses.
- Cookie Tests: Ensure that survey takers only take a survey once by depositing a cookie on their machine. The cookie identifies machines that have been used to complete the survey, even if the respondent uses a different email address. A secondary test can determine if the cookie function on the respondent’s machine is on or off. If the cookie function is turned off, it can be an indication that the respondent may be trying to game the system. While not an automatic disqualifier, Authentic Response takes note of this.
- Overused IP Address: Authentic Response can identify if the survey has already been completed by someone with the same IP address. Because the IP address could be a proxy or shared (multiple machines within a company can use a shared IP address), it's not an automatic disqualifier, but Authentic Response takes note of this.
- Known Proxy Test: Similar to the Overused IP Address, Authentic Response maintains a list of known shared servers to ensure that valid survey takers are not erroneously removed.
- Known Anonymous Server Test: Some shared servers automatically mask the identity of the user. While not an automatic disqualifier, Authentic Response takes note of this.
